Press Release Body = When I first started my online shop a few years back, I thought
I wanted to get into the glass and pottery areas. I wanted to specialize in a
certain area, but I was also thinking about the money that could be made selling
these items, especially when they could be attained at bottom dollar prices. Well,
all of that changed when I discovered collectible sheet music! I obtained my first
sheets about 4 years ago, and have been hooked ever since. The history of the
songs, the writers and composers, the eras they were written in have all inspired me
to end up with literally thousands of pieces of antique and vintage sheet music
since I first started collecting!

What I love more than anything are the covers of the music. Whether it is a
beautiful font used on an antique piece, or a beautiful 1920's flapper girl, the
images are truly an art form of their own. Many of the covers have signatures of
the artist, and learning about these artists just heightened my interest in the
whole area of collecting. Many artists are more collectible than others, with some
prices running into the hundreds for great condition pieces that have survived the
ravages of time. Being made of paper, the music often is in less than perfect
condition, but that is often to be expected. Buyers will often overlook a few flaws
when they find a piece they have been looking for to complete a collection, as long
as the piece is still in fairly good condition. Yellowing or darkening of the pages
is to be expected, and the occasional edge tear, if not too bad is not a large
distraction either. Ephemera, or paper collectibles just don't hold up well over
time and collectors know this.

Since I have been collecting and selling sheet music, I have had several clients
contact me, wanting a particular piece of music, usually from a Vaudeville or
Broadway show, that one of their relatives had performed in. This is when it is
really fun, to make a personal connection with a relative of one of the celebrities
featured on a cover, or who possibly even wrote the song! Often I will be asked if
I have a particular piece that is an old favorite or special song for someone, and
then I go into the research part of my job, either looking up the history of the
song for them, or trying to find the music, so I can direct them to it. Being a
huge music lover myself, I know how special some songs can be to people, so I try to
help them as much as possible. Memories of days gone past, long gone relatives,
childhood and even old flames can come to life just by the memories a song can
conjure up! Remember that special song you and your "crush" had in high school! I
bet you can hear that song now and instantly be transported back to those days when
life was so carefree and you just knew your love was going to last forever! Maybe
you did and maybe you didn't but the memories are no less special.
